A national campaign to inspire one million urban students to take a
stand for their life purpose, education, and community.
According to a CBS News Headline – “Urban Students Behind
Nationally,” today’s young person faces tragic news stories on a
daily basis. Challenges from broken homes, budget cuts, peer
pressures lead youth to believe that their future is bleak. Statistics
reveal that seventy-five percent of young people are trying to discover
their life purpose. And youth without a purpose have limited
opportunities for success.
Our goal for “one million” is to connect, inspire and equip students
with life tools, positive role models and inspiring stories by providing
an interactive website that helps them to maximize their potential.
How does one become one of the million?
Take the Pledge
An online ‘pledge’ that allows site visitors to enter their name as a
symbol of taking the pledge to Take A Stand. Their name appears on
a list of others who have done the same.
The pledge:
I WILL PROMISE TO MYSELF and to the Mil1ion TO TAKE A STAND
TO DISCOVER AND FULFILL MY LIFE PURPOSE, MAXIMIZE MY
EDUCATION, and MAKE MY COMMUNITY a better place … FROM
THIS DAY FORWARD.
By taking the pledge you promise:
PURPOSE - To write down your goals
EDUCATION - To do whatever it takes to graduate
COMMUNITY - To pick up a piece a litter a day
Litter may seem insignificant but…think about it when you pick up
one piece a litter you made that spot a better place simply because
you were there. You have the potential to make this place better.
